is to take weekends off from meds....think that would work? I am painting like mad, but I am shaking a lot too...I will take them tonight and in the morning before I go to work.
have you experimented stopping your meds before? i ask, as an experienced bipolar patient/med experimenter. i'm probably not a good person to take any advice from though as i'd flush them all away if i had my way. please be careful. i DO love your work though. thank you for sharing. it. http://residentdevildaryl.bravejournal.com
You are a very talented artist. I hope you find the solution to your meds soon. I don't think skipping your meds is a safe idea, but I'm not on them yet so I'm not exactly an expert. But it seems like in the long run you might end up worse off.
Taking them only during the week, or only during the weekends or only during a full moon: the inconsistency will severely screw you up. You'll be up and down like a toilet seat at a coed party. And it takes a week or more to recover from each hiccough in schedule for me - don't know about you - so if I did it on your proposed schedule, I'd be buggered for months.
I agree with everyone. Inconsistency will only make things worse. Meds should probably be all or nothing. If you need them, you need to be on them all the time. Listen to chalexa, look into a lower dose.
I'm going to be positive. Not that anyone else isn't; just come at it from another angle Jil.
Talk to your p-doc about the meds. About the effects of weening off of them; or about periods of not taking them. Make a decision that's good for the both of you and that fits what you're capable of.
The sad truth is that each of us reacts to these things in different ways; so there is nothing wrong with taking more control.
Just make sure you have all the information and the advice of your doctor first, k?

Jil, paint. But playing games with your meds is playing games with your life.
God, how I hate being a med-enforcer....I care about you, hon.
